Chios is one of the most beautiful islands in the Aegean .

Chios, south of Limnos, claims to be the birthplace of Homer  and also famous   for its  “ chewing gum “ trees , that can only be found here ( south part of the island ) .

Archeological site   of  Phanes  ( 8 km from Pirgi )  .:  Temple of Apollo 
Emborios ( 10 km south of Pirgi ) .: wonderful beach and nice sea side village

Mesta ( 10 km west of Pirgi ) .: traditional houses .
Limenas  ( 11 km from Pirgi ) .: nice beaches

Vrontados ( 5 km north of Chios ) were you can find the famous “ teachers rock “ , were Homer used  to teach .

Volissos  ( 40 km northwest of Chios ) is one of the most beautiful villages  with the remains of a Byzantine  castle . The road to this village passes through  impressive mountain scenery .

Nea Moni .: ( in the hills west of Chios ) stands one of the most important Byzantine monuments founded in the 11^th century , and contains impressive  frescoes and mosaics.
